Crew Scheduling Issues: Keep Documenting
As we continue working with the Company to address Crew Scheduling challenges, we want to remind Flight Attendants that your documentation continues to be important.
Irregular operations can create significant challenges, but excessive hold times, hotel and transportation problems, interruptions to required rest, and incorrect schedule changes should not simply become accepted as part of an IROP.
AFA Continues to Raise These Concerns
AFA continues discussions with the Company regarding Crew Scheduling processes and how operational issues are handled, particularly during periods of irregular operations.
We recognize that Crew Schedulers themselves are often dealing with extremely high call volumes. Our focus remains on the processes and resources available to support Flight Attendants when they need assistance.
Ultimately, improvements need to be measured by what Flight Attendants are actually experiencing on the line.
Continue to Document Issues
If you experience a Crew Scheduling or operational issue, please continue to document it. This includes:
- Excessive Crew Scheduling hold times.
- Delays receiving hotel or transportation information.
- Missing or incorrect hotel reservations.
- Calls or schedule changes that interfere with required rest.
- Deadhead assignment problems.
- Incorrect duty, release, or report times.
- Any situation where you believe your contractual protections were not followed.
Save screenshots, keep a timeline, record hold times, and document exactly what occurred and how it affected you.
Submit the information to your Local Council so AFA can track recurring problems and identify trends across the system.
Why Your Reports Matter
One report may identify an individual problem. Multiple reports showing the same issue help establish a pattern.
That documentation gives AFA the information we need when addressing these concerns with the Company and helps us push for solutions that actually improve the day-to-day experience of our Flight Attendants.
Know Your Contract. Protect Your Rest. Document the Issue.
