Endeavor AFA Reserve

Helpful (and Honest) Reserve Information You’ll Actually Use

Reserve life moves fast. The rules matter. Timing matters. Documentation matters.

This page covers the key provisions every Reserve Flight Attendant should understand and actively use.

Know Your Contract

Your Contract is your rulebook, your shield, and your protection.

You are expected to know it — and use it.

Access it here:
SkyPro → Content Locker → Repositories → Endeavor Documents → CBA

Reserve provisions are primarily found in Section 23. Read it carefully.

Timing Is Everything

Early is the new on-time.

Be early. Always.

Reserve assignments move quickly and there is little room for delay. Give yourself breathing room.

  • Pack strategically
  • Plan for traffic and delays
  • Allow extra transit time
  • Prepare for last-minute changes

Being rushed increases mistakes — and Reserve life leaves little margin.

The 15-Minute Rule

If Crew Scheduling calls and you do not answer:

You must return the call within 15 minutes
or you will be marked NAF (Not Available for Flight)
(Section 23-10)

On Airport/Ready Reserve:

  • You must be at your base airport.
  • You must report to the aircraft within 15 minutes of assignment.
    (Section 23-9)

Missed timing can carry serious consequences.

Airport (Ready) Reserve Limits

Airport Reserve is not unlimited.

Assignments are based on:

  1. Days of availability
  2. Lowest projected block time

You may be scheduled for up to six (6) Airport/Ready Reserve days per bid month unless:

  • You request more in PBS
  • All other available Reserves have already been assigned
  • Crew Scheduling has no other option

If you are assigned flying while on Airport Reserve:

  • You cannot be scheduled beyond 14 total hours
    (Section 23-9)

Know the limits.

Home Reserve – Order of Assignment

The Order of Assignment matters.

Read Section 23-4 through 23-6 carefully.

If something seems out of order:

  • Write down names
  • Record times
  • Document details

If you believe the order was violated, documentation strengthens your case.

Minimum Days Off Protection

If the Company reduces you below your contractual minimum days off, you are entitled to one of the following:

  • +4.0 hours pay credit
    OR
  • A Compensatory Day Off (current or following month), subject to schedule and operational needs

(Section 23-9)

Monitor your days off. Do not assume it was calculated correctly.

Picking Up Additional Hours

If you want more time:

You may pick up flying from a Lineholder on your scheduled day off.

You may not pick up on a Reserve day.

(Section 5-22)

Know the distinction between a true day off and a Reserve availability day.

Golden Days

After probation, you receive three (3) Golden Days per year.

Use them or lose them.

(Section 5-8)

Golden Days are a valuable tool for preventing burnout. Plan strategically.

Rest Protection

During a contractual rest period:

You may not be contacted until 90 minutes prior to your scheduled report time.

(Section 6-4)

Rest is protected. If that boundary is crossed, document it.

Duty Time Limits

Maximum Scheduled Duty: 14 hours
Operational Extension: Up to 16 hours — with your approval

(Section 6-3)

Extensions are not automatic. Approval is required.

Final Word

Reserve life requires awareness, preparation, and documentation.

Know the rules.
Track your assignments.
Protect your rest.
Monitor your days off.

When something doesn’t seem right, document it first — then reach out.
