25 Years Later A Message from your ASHS Committee

Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, our nation and our aviation family were forever changed.

Today, we remember the lives lost, including the crewmembers aboard American Airlines Flights 11 and 77 and United Airlines Flights 175 and 93 who reported for work that morning and never returned home.

For those of us in aviation, September 11 carries a particularly profound meaning. The events of that day forever changed aviation safety and security and reinforced the critical role Flight Attendants serve aboard every aircraft.

We are safety professionals first.

Many of the security procedures, training requirements, and protections that are part of our profession today were shaped by the lessons learned from September 11. Twenty-five years later, our responsibility to remain trained, prepared, and vigilant continues.

As new generations of Flight Attendants enter our profession—many too young to remember September 11 or born after that day—we also have a responsibility to preserve its history and honor the aviation professionals who came before us.

On this 25th anniversary, we remember those we lost, honor those who responded, and carry forward their legacy through our continued commitment to safety, security, preparedness, and vigilance.
