Summer Safety Starts with Reporting

As part of our July focus on resources, safety, and support, this is a good reminder that summer flying can bring additional safety concerns, including hot aircraft, excessive cabin temperatures, inoperative APUs, delayed cooling, and heat-related fatigue.

If an aircraft is too hot, communicate with your crew and Captain, advocate for a safe cabin environment, and document the issue through the proper reporting channels. Hot cabins are not just uncomfortable — they can impact Flight Attendants, passengers, and overall safety.

When appropriate, file the necessary safety report, ASAP report, or fatigue report so the issue is documented. Reports help identify trends, support follow-up, and give the Union the information needed to push for safer working conditions.

If you have questions about a safety concern, please contact your AFA Air Safety, Health, & Security Chair.
