Oscar Ochomogo Letter of Interest for MEC President
Dear Members of the Endeavor AFA Master Executive Council,
I am writing to respectfully seek your support for the position of MEC President.
Why I Am Interested in the Position
Serving our Flight Attendants has been the greatest honor of my professional life. From 2013 to 2025, I have been entrusted with the responsibility of representing LEC 46 as LEC President. Throughout that time, my commitment to our Flight Attendants, our contract, and our collective strength has only deepened.
I am running for MEC President because we are entering a crucial period for our union—one focused on contract enforcement, negotiations, and continued advocacy for fair treatment and respect across all levels of the company. I want to lead that effort with a clear vision and a strong, consistent voice on behalf of every Flight Attendant.
The role of MEC President is not about personal authority—it is about service. The MEC President serves as a vessel for the collective will of the LEC Presidents, who are the voting members of the MEC. It is vital to me that each LEC maintain its own identity and autonomy. My job will be to work for the LECs to accomplish their goals, ensuring their priorities are heard, respected, and advanced.
I will also prioritize stronger, more consistent communication across all levels of our leadership. My commitment is to stand beside each LEC—listening, collaborating, and providing support in every way possible. I fully understand how different this role is from serving as an LEC President, and I intend to listen more. This position is about taking the ideas and direction of the voting members of the MEC (the LECPs) and executing them effectively—working together as one unified team.
What Makes Me a Strong Candidate
I bring over a decade of leadership experience within AFA and a deep understanding of our contract, our members’ needs, and the dynamics between management and the union. My years of grievance work, reserve advocacy, and local representation have taught me not only how to interpret and defend our contract, but also how to build trust and deliver results.
Throughout my service, I have led with approachability, accountability, and determination. I believe effective leadership is built on communication and collaboration—values I have consistently demonstrated in every role I have held at both the LEC and MEC levels.
Relevant Experience and Qualifications
My aviation journey began in 2006 as a Ramp Agent for SkyWest in Santa Barbara. In 2008, I became a Flight Attendant at Mesaba, where I discovered my passion for advocacy. My first volunteer role came in 2012 as an Info Rep, and I quickly became involved in organizing, education, and representation as AFA returned following the merger of Colgan, Pinnacle, and Mesaba.
Since then, I have had the privilege of representing and defending hundreds of Flight Attendants through grievances, terminations, and contract disputes—helping more than 100 members regain their jobs and achieving numerous settlements that improved both individual and collective outcomes.
This experience has shaped my approach to leadership: firm when necessary, fair always, and grounded in the belief that every member’s voice matters.
Experience Summary
- LEC President: 12 years (2013–2025)
- MEC Reserve Chair: 2 years (and currently serving)

Vision for the Future
As MEC President, my vision is to strengthen communication between LECs and the MEC, prioritize contract enforcement and education, and ensure that every Flight Attendant feels represented, informed, and supported. Together, we can continue building a stronger, more unified AFA—one that stands firm in protecting our rights, advancing our profession, and demanding the respect and recognition every Endeavor Flight Attendant deserves.
In Solidarity,
Oscar Ochomogo
