Report a Potential Contract Violation (form at the bottom)

Your AFA Grievance Committee is currently investigating what appears to be a major system-wide issue involving the Company’s handling of several contractual protections that apply when Flight Attendants are required to fly on days off or have their days off disturbed. These issues directly affect your schedules, time off, and pay.
We need your help to ensure accurate enforcement of the contract.

Junior Assignments (LOA 14.G.; CBA §5.H.7., §2.M., §2.Z.)

Based on the Company’s year-to-date reporting, only four Flight Attendants were recorded as having been junior-assigned. Given the volume of experiences reported by our members, this number is not credible.

A Junior Assignment includes:

Any involuntary flying on a scheduled day off

Any involuntary assignment that extends past 12:00am into a scheduled day off

Deadheads assigned involuntarily on a day off

All Junior Assignments are payable at 150% premium pay, and misclassification of these events can directly result in underpayment.

Compensatory Day Off Violations (§5.H.7.d; §6.D.1 for lineholders; §6.D.2 for reserves)

We are also investigating reports that Flight Attendants are not being properly provided Compensatory Days Off when their scheduled days off are infringed upon.

The CBA requires the Company to restore or provide a Compensatory Day Off in multiple circumstances. Failure to do so is a contractual violation for both lineholders and reserves"

  • Reserves are granted a Compensatory Day Off any time they are worked into their scheduled day off bringing them below their minimum days off for the month.
  • Lineholders are granted a Compensatory Day Off any time they are worked into their scheduled day off bringing them below their minimum days for the month in situations not as a result of weather or ATC issues.

150% Day-Off Premium Pay (§18.G.3.)

Any involuntary flying on a scheduled day off — including delays that carry into a day off — must be paid at 150%.
We have reason to believe that some Flight Attendants may not have received the correct premium pay required under the contract.

We Need Your Reports

If you believe you experienced any of the following:

  • A Junior Assignment
  • A Compensatory Day Off that was not properly granted or restored
  • Failure to receive 150% premium pay for day-off flying

Please submit the information below.
Your reports are vital to ensuring the contract is enforced and Flight Attendants receive the rights and pay they are owed.
