Hotel Committee Temporary MEC Chair

We have an opening for a temporary MEC Chair for the Hotel Committee. The term will be determined after selection. If you have any questions, please contact your LEC President.

Duties

The MEC Hotel Committee shall have a Chairperson elected by the MEC. Duties of the Chairperson shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

Meet with Company personnel on a quarterly basis to review current hotel issues and news.
Report noteworthy items to the membership.
Monitor complaints received from members and follow up when necessary.
Be available for property site visits on occasion.
Provide a Committee Report to the MEC at each MEC meeting.
Provide a monthly progress report to the MEC officer who is designated to oversee the committee.
Collaborate with the LEC Presidents in recruiting new LEC Hotel Committee members, and provide leadership to the LEC Hotel Committee Chairs.
The MEC Chair will provide at minimum a quarterly report of all activity to the MEC Secretary Treasurer that will be kept on file in a binder and distributed to the MEC in a timely manner. The report will include all committee members and local chairs.

The MEC Chair will write a minimum of one E-line article per quarter for distribution to the membership.


Endeavor Air AFA System Board of Adjustment (SBA) Member

General Purpose and Scope:

Members serve on the AFA EDV System Board of Adjustment (SBA) for the purpose of arbitrating disputes and/or grievances, which may arise under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between management and the union.??

AFA System Board Members will act in the best interest of the membership and the Association (AFA) and will be consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.??

Requirements:

All interested candidates must meet the following to be considered:

  • Must be available to attend training to be determined.
  • Must be a Member in Good Standing
  • Should have a thorough knowledge of the AFA Collective Bargaining Agreement, Company Policy and Procedures, negotiated Side Letters of Agreement (SLA), Memorandums of Understanding (MOU).
  • Knowledge of appeals process including grievance mediation, system board of adjustment (SBA).
  • Understanding of arbitration procedures as well as AFA Basic and Advanced Grievance Training is recommended.
  • Prior AFA Negotiating Committee service is highly desirable.

Duties:

The AFA System Board Member will serve as the AFA-appointee on the EDV System Board of Adjustment (“the Board”) for the purpose of gathering evidence, testimony and argument, whether written or oral, whenever the Board convenes to arbitrate disputes and/or grievances which may arise under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The AFA System Board Member selected to serve on a specific Board will apprise themselves of the issue(s) involved in the dispute(s) to be arbitrated, as well as the Union’s theory and arguments of the case(s).

The AFA System Board Member selected to serve on a specific Board will attend the entirety of the arbitration, whether conducted in person, telephonically or by other electronic communication.?

The AFA System Board Member selected to serve on a specific Board will attend any Executive Session(s) called by the neutral member (arbitrator) of the Board, the Company appointee(s) to the Board or the Union appointee(s) to the Board.?

The MEC Uniform Committee shall have two Co-Chairs elected by the MEC. Duties of the Chairpersons shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Meet with Company personnel on an occasional basis, bringing member uniform issues to management’s attention, and participating in discussions surrounding new or changing uniform pieces.
  • Provide a quarterly progress report to the MEC President or designee.
  • Provide a Committee Report to the MEC at each MEC meeting.
    Collaborate with the LEC Presidents in recruiting new LEC Uniform Committee members, and provide leadership to the LEC Uniform Committee Chairs.

Text Messaging Clarification

Text Messaging Clarification

The AFA MEC has received some questions about the new Text Messaging memo that management sent to Flight Attendants. We recently asked for clarification on when and how the text messaging would utilized. We confirmed the following:

  1. Text messaging would NOT be used for Crew Scheduling issues such as Junior Manning, CS Notifications, schedule changes, etc.
  2. Text messaging will NOT be used to inform a Flight Attendant of a Section 3 Investigatory meeting.
  3. Management might use texts for friendly reminders (Did you complete your LMS?)
  4. Text messages will not be official notice. They will be viewed as an informal means of communication, however, please be professional with your texts to anyone within Endeavor Air.
  5. Should you type something and auto correct makes a mistake, it will be viewed in the context of the overall communication and the Flight Attendant will be given the benefit of the doubt.
  6. Should you text outside of regular business hours, you may not receive a response until your manager is back in the office.

AFA Wish List

AFA Wish List

Recently, Inflight Leaders sent out a request for a “wish list” from Flight Attendants that they would “review and consider for inclusion in plans for potential improvement in our Inflight Services world”.

Your AFA MEC wants to hear from you. Please let us know what you would like to see in order to make REAL improvements to our concessionary contract. We can open negotiations next December and your input is important to us. We will present the top 10 items that you would like to see to management on December 21st. Please take a few minutes to share with us your 10 items for improvement by December 20. You can fill out the form HERE.

Uniforms

Uniform Allotment

Your AFA MEC has received information from Flight Attendants indicating that their uniform allotment is incorrect. We appreciate this feedback and wanted to give you information on how to check your allotment.

  1. Login to M & H Uniforms and check your balance and orders. You can login in here.
  2. You can call M & H at 1–800–888–9927 during PST business hours.
  3. Contact Darlene in the uniform center by emailing uniforms@endeavorair.com and copy in the union (info@edvafa.org).

If you find that your information is incorrect, management or M & H will do an audit and determine the amount. If you disagree with the audit, please email your manager and copy in the union.
